The Consumer Affairs Division of the Department of Commerce, International Trade, Investment, Enterprise Development and Consumer Affairs will on March 15, 2017 join with consumer organizations across the world to celebrate World Consumer Rights Day under the theme “Consumer Rights in the Digital Age”. World Consumer day has been celebrated on May 15 since 1983, when President John F. Kennedy made the famous statement that “Consumer by definition includes us all. They are the largest economic group affecting and affected by almost every public and private economic decisions, yet they are the only important group whose views are often not heard.”
World Consumer Rights Day is an event which promotes consumer rights through educating and sensitizing the public on their rights and responsibilities of a consumer.
The Department of Commerce, International Trade, Investment, Enterprise Development and Consumer Affairs of has planned a series of activities in commemoration of World Consumer Rights Day. One of the planned activities is a fun walk slated for Sunday, March 12th, 2017 from 6:00 a.m. The walk will begin at Massy Stores Mega and end at the Pigeon Island causeway.
